About us

The journey home begins here

A Cape Town branch built on three decades of South African funeral experience — dignity, tradition, and community trust.

Our heritage

Three decades of dignified care

Pinetown Funeral Services was founded by Clive Moodley, who started his working life as a newspaper vendor and car washer before driving vehicles for other undertakers. In 1993, together with his wife Vanessa, he saved enough to start the business with a single vehicle — built on a simple principle: every family, regardless of means or background, deserves a dignified send-off for the people they love.

Three decades later, that single vehicle has grown into a fleet of luxury hearses and family cars — including what’s believed to be the world’s first Rolls-Royce Ghost hearse — with branches across Durban and now Cape Town. The business remains family-run to this day, led by Clive and his brother Christopher, with the next generation, including Bradlin Moodley who leads our Cape Town branch, carrying the same values forward.

Our Cape Town branch, based in Killarney Gardens, Milnerton, brings that same standard of care to the Western Cape — combining the group’s national experience and supplier relationships with a local team that knows Cape Town’s communities, cemeteries, crematoria, and cultural requirements first-hand.

Our philosophy

More than logistics

We see a funeral as the last act of care a family performs for someone they love, and the first step of a community’s grieving process. Our role is to remove the burden of arrangements, so families are free to grieve, gather, and honour their loved one properly.

We tailor every funeral to the family’s specific religion, culture, and budget. We do not believe a dignified funeral should be reserved for those who can afford the most expensive package.

Multi-faith commitment

Every tradition, carried out correctly

Every religion and culture has its own traditions around death — timing, ritual washing, specific prayers, mourning periods, and burial or cremation requirements. We take pride in carrying out funerals correctly for a wide range of communities, including:

Christian & Catholic requiem services

Hindu & Tamil funeral rites

Muslim same-day burial

New Apostolic ceremonies

Old Apostolic ceremonies

Other traditions on request

Compliance & professional standing

Regulatory compliance you can trust

We take compliance seriously, because families trust us at their most vulnerable moment. For funeral cover products, we work with Ingwe Life (Pty) Ltd, an authorized Financial Services Provider in South Africa with FSP Number 46004.
